BS BS

Boy story BS!!

I went to First Friday earlier this month and encountered another BS boy story. It comes to mind because tonight is the last episode of the Pick Up Artist and my original pick is in the final two (although, I kinda think Simeon is going to win). Anywho, this skater unit commented on two girls riding Huffy's down the street which he thought was not impressive. Agreeing I noted that my commuter was/is much cooler. When asked what I ride around I pointed two feet away to my Rossin and described my componentry. This somehow blew his MF'n mind. He asked a few more questions regarding my whip and then said "I think I'm slowly falling in love". Really? Are ya now? You don't know jack except that I know what Super wReckord is. It wouldn't have been so bad except that he left for a moment and came back two more times begging for attention and to tell me how nice it was to meet me shaking my hand with both of his. My RTB BF Andy came by and not that hes an actual BF but I showed much more interest in seeing him than this new boy toy. When he finally left, this boy in love called me Katherine.

And what a happy ending

So Thursday and Friday I was in St. Louis:

Followed by a pants off dance off:
Met Mr. Ross

And came to really comprehend Aaron's shrinkage from when he was a hockey player when placed next to Mr. Matt "You wish you had my facial hair" Rothwell (photo edits courtesy of Mr. Kick Ass)

Went in for my last day in 341 Schaub with a stop at Jasmine:

And I went out with a bang at the Saucer with some of my fan club:

Then I headed back with Aaron to Massachusetts. Here is a shot from the drive where we were almost out of the south:

Burning out

Or igniting the flame? I've had a whorl wind of an ending here in NC and I'm starting to get pretty tired, however, I know my excitement is far from over.

This weekend I:

A) Made it back from St. Louis after seeing the kick A archway.

B) Went to a pants of dance off where the bike team made more than just an appearance.

C) Packed my car, cleaned out my house and said some goodbyes to some awesome people.

D) Watched Mystery choose my pick for the finals in the pick up artist.

E) Today (well, since my departure qualifies as a national holiday, and therefore makes this a 4 day weekend, we will also include Monday) I turned in what will hopefully be my final thesis. YES!

6) Although the list consists of things I completed, I would like to note that I will be going to the Saucer tonight for a farewell and thanks but no thanks goodbye party, which I plan to be a historical event.

PS. I saw this mother on the bike path last weekend.

Raceface

I totally had my raceface on yesterday even without my trainface for the past few weeks. It was a pretty inspirational race for several reasons.

1. Two lab fans traveled all the way out there to watch me pedal my metal!! That is over an hour drive from Raleigh and it shows me that some of my fans are quite die hard...with a vengeance.

2. For >50% possibly even >75% but definitely >50% I was beating Alicia Genest Hamblen. That rules. When I first started racing back at UMass she joined the team....as a pro. I was getting dropped from every womens B road race the collegiate scene had to offer and I never imagined that one day I might be close to her. Sure she just had a baby this year but there is no way she lost everything, heck I already raced her over a month ago.

3. I finally got lapped on my last lap by the leader of the men's 3 race at the perfect section....the sand. And as dude passed me, I maintained. I was with him for almost half a lap and I swear he looked back at one point to see if I was still there. I totally ruled at that downhill sand section and I was pumped about it. He passed me at a corner and I almost passed him back but I figured since he was lapping me he might end up being faster, so I let him go and stayed with him all the way until the uphill sand section.

Check out me with Alicia behind me. She was about that position for another mile or so.

Actions speak louder than words - old adage

"What you are speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say" R. W. Emerson

It's more true than you could ever imagine (I wish you could see me type this so you can watch my emphasis). Body language tells all and I'm starting to understand it. Now don't get me wrong, this is no new phenomenon to me but I have never really understood what exactly a person does to show me what exactly they want to say. Subconsciously I get it but beyond that it's like I have no control. Thankfully, I'm reading a book to break it all down. Ideally, I'd like to understand what means what and use it to my advantage weather that is to understand what someone is saying to me or what I want to say to someone.

Clearly, when yesterday in the grocery store when not cashier #5 asked me for my number he somehow misinterpreted my signals of "I want to leave" with "we should definitely go out" knowing these skills would have been of great advantage. Luckily, I was so flustered I honestly couldn't remember my number and accidentally gave him most of my number mixed with Mr. Kick Ass's. Crap. I actually do feel bad about it but I was trying to get away and Joel totally left me hanging. When trying to give the real cashier #5 the signal that "I'll give you my phone number, SSN, PIN and first born child" I was totally left in the dust. I need a good rewiring.

Still haven't fixed my picture situation with IN but here is another teaser:

I'm not that famous

A facebook inbox:
Meant to catch up with you @ BURN. You guys were fun to watch that weekend. Nice job!

I was there "managing" some friends in their first 24hr race... wished I was riding but I'd just been getting over a 28 round of antibiotics for Rocky Mtn spotted fever.

I recoginized you b/c of the VK kit... I kept thinking it was you @ a distance b/c you're the only local mtb rider I know of that's got ties to them. And sure enough @ the start of one of your nighttime runs, we had a rider change.

Good luck with the rest of your season. I'll swing over and say hello if I see you again. Tell Liz I said hello if you see her anytime soon. --J

Thanks "J" for being a fan and maybe someday I'll meet you but I don't know Liz personally and I don't know how you know who I am but I'm flattered.

Indiana, Obv.

That's where I was the last couple days. Unfortunately, my computer is too effed to let me put up any pictures so I'm going to have to wait until as soon as I feel like doing it. First off, South Bend is amazing. Just amazing. In that I hope to never go there again kind of amazing. After driving around for a little while trying to find some small eatery which wouldn't be weird if I was alone at and wasn't fast food I finally settled on Walmart. It was one of those Super ones and I think it was my first time experiencing such. Upon leaving I saw what is a good competitor towards the best mullet ever. There was a woman in Raleigh who was also really good and she might have topped it with her state fair t-shirt, but nevertheless, this hairdo was as good as gold. The next day I interviewed early in the am. After not being able to convince the person setting this up that it could be a day trip I was sure that I would be there the entire day. After less than 2 hours I was done and am well on my way to a second interview next month. Hello again South Bend? I hope not. Although the people were great inside Zentis, the surrounding 200 miles can't say the same. I love you Zentis, but I'm not innnnn love with you. No, this less than two hour interview can't be done in one day, you must come back....I get that a lot. I am quite pumped with my interviewing skills though. I was pretty sure the guy was going to drop on one knee and place his wedding ring on my finger.

Since I was formerly semi-sucky at interviewing I decided to ditch the advice I was given and give the interviewers the real CT. On the past few interviews (phone and real ones) I've been throwing in a Caitlin comment or two and let me tell you the mic is on!! Sure sure you have to be serious but really, what sets you apart when you are answering the questions without something with a little personality. Done and done.

Ok, fo rill I have some amazing pictures to put up so hold on to your horses. Until then, enjoy this fine portrait of me and Mr. Maynard which is also featured as my background.
