Broked
Frowny face :(
So there I was, killing it near last place, cruising around the course. Whilst I contemplate my next section to crush on, I was paying little attention to the barrier I was about to hop over. I mean, I knew it was there, but my brain didn't tell my legs to hop high enough. As I was going over the my right foot clipped the barrier. My bike landed gently on the other side and my face was to follow. As my face intimately met up with my top tube I didn't keep my balance and I fell right to the ground. I realized my nose had become very similar to a faucet and I began freaking out (I actually hate blood and have been known to pass out on occasion). I laid on the course as they yelled "get off the course" until I was able to crawl my way off. Still freaking out by the faucet I once called my nose, I managed to find some nice folks to help me but I wasn't going to finish the race (which actually crossed my mind, cause hey, you finish on the leader lap anyway). I heard it looked "gnarly" but I'm not sure if it was quite captured. Phone calls were made, towels were ruined then I made it to the ambulance. I had to sign a paper saying I didn't want the ride and had the BF drive me scaring the people next to us in traffic with my facial improvements. All in all, it's broked and I'm probably not racing coyote point.

Raleighwoods!!
So I finally did what I said I would never do. I went back to Raleigh. I guess when I first went to Raleigh, I judged it as a commuter unfriendly community with no scene. By the time I left, it was turning a new greener leaf. It's not only that I was learning of the great things, but they were actually starting! Most of my friends were cyclists. Most of my friends commuted by car. Most of the cars tried to hit me. Downtown was barren. Slammer Magazine was the kind of deranged entertainment to be had. Nearing the end of my stay...well...it was different. Downtown was bustling. Bikes were hot. Cyclists were hotter. I must say, my return showed me that the rise of Raleigh kept going. It was....fun!
Before my opinion of Raleigh depended on when you asked me, if there was booze, were there bikes around, etc. but real talk, that shit is cool now.
Unfortunately, I chose hanging out over packing up and totally forgot my camera. Sarah saved me on the Raleigh front and I definitely saw someone taking pictures at the wedding, I think anyway, so I should be covered.
Friday I: Visited Doris, and then daughter 1 walked in, then daughter 2...it took a southern minute anyway. Oh and BTDubs, this was via Sarah's bike which I had to bring into the shop to fix to have brakes! Then I went to the LAB lab and visited the old coworker family. Nuts as always. Then I went to the DTR. Cyclists came out (prolly in cars) and the other LAB heads were there too.
Saturday I: Breakfast/Lunch tradition with Sarah. Then weddinged it. Saw additional more pro cyclists and more pro cyclists dancing.
Sunday I: Saw Joel face make a sandwich. Farmers market! Art museum!!
Then back to Oakland. Sarah, send me some pics.

Guess what I did!!!
EVERYTHING!!!
I replaced my cables and housings
I adjusted my front dérailleur
I adjusted my rear piece
I readjusted my brakes
And I re-wrapped my handlebar tape 23 times before TJBs fixed it
So please, ask me for assistance if you like but don't expect that it will take me any less than 2 weeks for any one fix.

The Tour Blog
My first tour!! Wicked awesome! I pretty much am convinced that there is no other way to travel.
Daly City to Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz to Monterey
Monterey to Kirk Creek
Kirk Creek to Morrow Bay
Morrow Bay to Oceano
Oceano to Refugio
Refugio to Santa Barbara
Santa Barbar Amtrak to Oakland
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 miles with fully loaded packs. First time on a tour. First time on a touring bike. First time with panniers. Last time ever having tour apprehension.
Czech the pix:

We camped with the same people night after night. Our group slept until noon and would catch up and pass the others and be the first to the campsite the next night. Here we are kicking ass in Big Sur.

And our stellar cliff side campsite at Kirk Creek.

More Sur, sir.

This crazy mf'n tree in Morrow Bay - home of the renowned seafood restaurant located next to the nuclear power plant. We chose breakfast in the most catted out cafe...seriously, I've never seen so many pictures of cats in my life.

Pismo Beach Dinosaur Caves
We even made some stellar jokes!
What kind of property does a deer purchase??
Veal estate
Which then turned into....
What kind of property does a bicycle purchase??
WHEEL ESTATE
OMFG. WTF. FTW.

So there's a lawyer, an engineer and a scientist
So there I am walking down the street in Oakland, staring distantly at the pile of trash with my engineer friend. "Let's rummage through that person's personal belongings" I elude to -- "sure" says the engineer. So we rummage, rummage, rummage, yada, yada, yada, and another person joins the fun. So we start talking and making jokes with him --> followed by a quick conversation about BPA --> then the ocean as a dumpster --> then our career selections. Yes. We have a lawyer, and electrical engineer and a food scientist rummaging through trash.
I remembered back to my days in Raleigh when I was a complete outkast when I flipping went to a thrift store. Dear Oakland, I've found my new home.

Charles in charge
I think I am the best or worst boss ever.
I dragged my direct aid on a 20+ mile (very hilly) bike ride after work today. Then, I dragged him to eat pizza and drink booze. Unfortunate.

PORT COSTA
This is Port Costa, BTW. It's hella cool to ride to. There is a hella sweet abandoned road that is open to bikes and even painted in some spots with wilderness growing through the cracks and pretty much 0 pavement at some points (because it fell off the cliff -- yikes). Either way, when you get there you arrive to only two places - a bar and a whore house (a "hotel"). We went to the bar, then brought our stuff to the "hotel" then back to the bar. The bar features this hella hilarious polar bear (stuffed - obv.).

Davous Amongous
rolled in straight to Oakland last Wednesday and participated in many an adventure.
Wednesday evening consisted of preparing the bikes. He the Ahrens and I the Rossin.
Thursday the day began with a bike ride starting at 5 am (8 am EST). Davous continued on to Mt. Diablo and I instead stayed in a science cage. After all 20+ miles with 1500+ ft of climbing isn't that easy on a single speed.
Thursday night is game night. I was wingman. I am now to log in approaches and approacheeees.
Friday is San Fransisco and the search for a Dance Party. It was actually pretty funny. We went to one bar pretty much to find out where we could find a dance party. Apparently, that stuff only happens in the Castro and no one could tell us what was in the Mission. Finally we go to bounce and we see some transactions going on in this other part of the small bar. "What's going on up there?" "Well, we're having a dance party" sold - with a 2 for 1 deal by Lashes' lashes.
Saturday was city exploration. First up, the video arcade (Museum Mechanique acutally). Then half of Butter lap, over the GG bridge, then through GG park to the Pan Handle and over to play some chess on Market street with the hustlers.

Sunday was the tour!! We saw the pelaton through 4 laps around downtown Sacramento. After we modeled then drove to Anthonies. We ate at In and Out Burger and went to a "comedy" show with Anthony and friends.

WTF? FTW!
So actually, I had probably the funnest weekend I've had in a really long time. Friday I took the day off and went to Yosemite with my sister and friends. It was fun filled with stomach hurting laughter and a boat load of beauty (sister to supply pictures). I then return to see my car has been broken into. WTF? My car, as always, was empty and the only thing stolen was an IPod car charger for an IPod which I can't connect to the stereo. Well, times are hard and Oakland's harder.

Oh Eff
Yeah. x3. Robbulared.
This time, totes my fault...or roommates fault...or dawgs fault....but somebody opened the garage door and left it open all night. I had three bikes in there, my roommate had one. Now I have two in there, my roommate still one. I can't believe I have any. On the upside, I own renters insurance. On the downer, I just bought it 2 weeks ago (or less) = quite possibly looking like fraud. Yuck. Well, that's just hawitis.
